September 19th, 2024 felt like just another day in Columbus, OH. That was, however, until 3 dozen roses were delivered at my front step. I’ll be honest, I thought they were sent to the wrong house because we weren’t celebrating anything special, and frankly “just because” flowers aren’t Austin’s forte. After bringing the flowers inside my house I put them on my kitchen counter and read the note attached. The note had a sweet message from Austin that said he had special date night plans for us that night and to look nice. That’s when I knew, that today was the day.
Later that evening, he surprised me with a wonderful and romantic dinner at Jeff Ruby’s Steakhouse, in downtown Columbus. This was our first time dining at Jeff Ruby’s, and certainly not our last. The restaurant had so much character and the staff were all super attentive and knowledgeable about the menu. I started our dinner off with a glass of Moscato D’Asti, Austin got a light beer, I ordered their famous mac and cheese, and then we both ordered their surf and turf entree. We tend to be a pretty casual date night couple, so this was a special treat for us.
After dinner, we strolled through Franklin Park Conservatory to allegedly stall before our next activity… and that’s where he proposed. It was intimate, just the two of us, & exactly how I had wanted it.
We ended our night at a Don’t Tell Comedy Show & then swung by Insomnia Cookies for a late night treat. All and all, a wonderful night and I’m grateful for the intentionality Austin put behind the day to make it extra special for us both.
